Rosetta Garries, M.D.

Boy, I'll tell you, it sure makes you feel a great deal of confidence when you enter the ring with your own medical doctor in your corner, let alone your own plastic surgeon! Dr. Garries is a master plastic surgeon who is like my cut man Vinnie times 10. She and Vinnie work my corner with my father and she's there to back Vinnie up in case I suffer a cut that's really serious and her medical expertise is needed beyond Vinnies expertise to close it or to stop the blood flow.

A lot of people don't realize how critical have her in my corner can be. First of all, since she ran hospital emergency rooms for years and saw stabbings, gunshot wounds, severe accidents of all kinds and all of that, her seeing a cut in a fight is like her having tea and crackers on a Sunday afternoon - nothing could possibly make her panic and she helps keep my whole corner calm. Secondly, because she a physician, she gets the professional courtesy from the ringside physicians and other officials to let her wounded fighter get one or two more rounds to pull out a win than a regular cut man might not get.

A perfect example of this was when Steve 'Lightnin' Little was fighting against Tyrone 'Puff of Smoke' Frazier, 'Smokin' Joe Frazier's nephew, at the Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia, one of the world's best and most famous fight venues on September 23., 1991. Steve suffered a terrible cut over his left eye in the 7th round of the fight and was bleeding like a stuck pig. Between the 7th and the 8th rounds the ringside physician came up on the ring apron and threatened to stop the fight. Dr. Rosetta told him "Hey doc, I've got this" and, as a professional courtesy, he gave the kid one more round. Dr. Garries successfully closed the cut and, miraculously, not another drop of blood leaked from the cut for the rest of the fight, the ringside officials let the fight continue, and Steve ended up winning a razor close split decision victory!

On top of all of that, if you get cut, she can clean and stitch up any cuts suffered in the ring so you don't have to spend all night stuck in an emergency room after a fight.

Dr. Garries operates two plastic surgery centers in New York City, one in Harlem, le Pavillon Garries, located at 2544 Frederick Douglas Boulevard, New York, NY 10030, (212) 234-3859, and another at the epicenter of Midtown Manhattan, Pavillon Garries on 5th, 500 Fifth Avenue @42nd Street, 47th Floor, New York, NY 10030, (212) 857-4441.

Her website is www.VeryPrettySkin.com and she is considered the world's best plastic surgeon specializing in non-invasive procedures, like Thermage skin tightening, microdermabrasions, chemical peels, lip augmentations, mole removal, laser hair removal, razor bump removal, facial rejuvenation, and many other anti-aging techniques and procedures. A lot of the top music and movie stars make seeing her regularly their top priority so that they can stay looking as young as possible.

Her offices are incredibly luxurious with only the finest furnishings and I love going there because her staff is so nice and the treatment she gives you makes you feel like you're in a palace somewhere. If you're a professional fighter fighting for a world championship, or you have a title defense coming up, I think you'd be foolish not to call her to have her in your corner.
