Rob Murray, Jr. aka Lil' Rob

Fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, as they say. That's certainly true in the case of Rob Murray, Sr. and Rob Murray, Jr.

Rob, Jr. was the youngest licensed boxing promoter in the entire state of Pennsylvania. Working as his father's apprentice over so many years and seeing every aspect of the boxing game at his father's side prepared him incredibly well to become a top notch boxing promoter. He is my promoter, along with Dan Goossen, one of the biggest promoters in the world. Rob was there when his father literally went and got Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins out of jail and guided his career all the way to fight for the Middleweight Championship of the World against Roy Jones, Jr. He was there to see his father take a then little known Steve 'Lightnin' Little from nowhere to become the WBA Super Middleweight Champion of the World with a huge win over Michael 'Second To' Nunn in London, England on February 26, 1994. More importantly, he was there to see his father sit at Little's bedside when Steve lost his battle with colon cancer at the tender age of 34.

The caring and compassion that his father has for athletes rubbed off on Rob, Jr. A few years ago Rob, Jr. started the S.C.O.R.E. Foundation, which is an education program for youth that teaches life skills through interaction and mentoring by Rob's many professional athlete friends. In addition, he is about to launch NBA Throw Away, a project through which Rob gets NBA players to donate a lot of the items that they throw away despite them being in perfect condition, like expensive basketball shoes and clothes that are worn only once or twice, so they can be auctioned off to help fund worthy charities like Grassroots.org, the S.C.O.R.E. Foundation, and many others.

Rob, Jr. played Division I basketball at Colgate, so look up old #35 in the history books when you get a chance. He played alongside former 1st round draft choice, Adonal Foyle, and led his team to the NCAA tournament one year. He still thinks he can ball, but I think I can shut him down any day! :
